The mission of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is to assist each woman of The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world. St. Paul’s is blessed to have two LWM groups. Ladies of the congregation are welcome to join either group. Each group has its own projects and goals, one group meets during the day and the other meets in the evenings.
The LWML Convention will be in our own backyard next year in June! The assistance of hundreds of willing workers (including men) is needed to help provide a wonderful and enriching experience for all who attend. Help is need in so many areas. Please consider helping and attending the festivities at some point. More information will follow! Use the link below to access the Call for Workers form. If you have any questions, please contact Lorrie Wilson for more information about this upcoming event at 920-467-6880.
“We’re not just sending dresses, we’re sending hope.” – Little Dresses for Africa
We are continuing to sew pillowcase dresses and shorts to go to Guatemala with our Mission Team and also for Little Dresses for Africa. All sewing of the dresses and shorts is done at home. Sew at home at your convenience. We continue this sewing mission for the following reasons:
- Our Mission Team has solid plans to return to Guatemala in the future and would gladly take dresses and shorts along to be distributed to the many needy children.
- The lack of sturdy clothes for children in need is so great all over the world in the many third-world countries. We’ll continue to seek out ways to get our handcrafted dresses and shorts to children who desperately need them.
We have a bin in the Giving Center where you can find some available pillowcases to make dresses or shorts from the material. There are some directions and hints on how to help you create future pillowcase dresses and shorts. There is also a sample dress and shorts to help guide you! If you’d like to donate pillowcases, please remember we only use cotton and cotton blends and new or gently used cases. No microfiber or synthetics please!
We really need members who are willing to sew boys’ shorts! The Mission Team told us that people in Guatemala requested that they bring more shorts the next time they come. These shorts are super-simple to make with no zipper or fly and just an elastic waist. It’s possible to get two small pairs of shorts from one pillowcase. Instructions for the shorts will be in the bin also!
Many, many thanks to those who have sewn as well as those who have donated pillowcases, fabrics, and other supplies to keep our mission going! For more information, please contact the Church Office and ask for Judy Konik phone number or email to get more details on how you can help.
