History

Our Beginnings

1855 – Our First Congregation

For Lutherans scattered in and around Sheboygan Falls, Reverend F. Steinbach would visit weekly from Trinity Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Services were held each Sunday afternoon in various homes in the village. These early mission pastors planted the seeds of what was to become our congregation.

1858 – First Building

Our first church building was constructed in 1858 and served the congregation until 1890, when a new building was built to accommodate the growing congregation.

1890 – Second Building

A second building was constructed in 1890 and served until 1915.

1915 – Third Building

St. Paul Lutheran built a new home at 621 Broadway in downtown Sheboygan Falls, where the congregation worshiped until 1994.

1995 – Current Building

St. Paul Lutheran moved to our current location at 730 County Road PPP, Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin. This facility continues to serve as the home base for our growing congregation and ministries.

2004 – 150th Anniversary

On September 30, 2004, the 150th Anniversary Celebration Committee met for the first time. January 16, 2005, was chosen for the kickoff weekend, celebrated under the theme: "St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 150 Years of Blessings — Where Everybody is Somebody and Jesus Christ is Lord."

Ministry History

Early Childhood Center – Est. 1986

St. Paul started a 3 and 4-year-old Preschool in 1986, housed in the Education Center. In October 1997, it was moved to its present location in the 200 wing of the new facility. Over the years the program has expanded to serve families by offering two sessions of 3-year-old Preschool, two sessions of 4K, and Child Care, which was added September 1, 2009.

The Gathering Place – Est. April 2008

St. Paul started The Gathering Place in April 2008, caring for persons with memory loss one day a week in the 100 wing of the church. In April 2009, a second day was added each week. In December 2011, a third day opened. A fourth day was added at a satellite location, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, in June 2017.
