“Jesus said, ‘It is finished.’ Then He bowed his head and gave up his spirit.” - John 19:30
If this is where our story ended, we would not be living as people of the resurrection. We would be stuck at the crossroads, having no clue where to go or what to do. We would not know who we are or what our purpose is. But thanks be to God that our story doesn’t end there, but rather it is just the beginning. God does something miraculous through Jesus so that we can shout with joy-filled hearts on Easter: “He is risen, He is risen indeed!”
“He is not here; for he has been raised.” - Matthew 28:6
This is what we proclaim on Easter Sunday and every day. God promised to send a Savior, the one who would crush the serpent's head, and because God is true to His Word, Jesus is not dead but alive! Through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, we are granted grace upon grace. Through His unfailing, unfaltering, unparalleled love, we are set free to be people of the resurrection, covered by the grace and forgiveness of God. We no longer find ourselves stuck at the crossroads, but rather, we are covered in grace.
